MACINTOSH MONDAY

So last Thursday 18th June Mr Macintosh turned 3! As is customary we get him a few little presents, usually consisting of some toys and treats. We posted this picture on Instagram which caused people to comment on how still and well behaved he looked waiting for his presents.

Whilst he is waiting patiently there he didn't always wait so well...

He spent quite a bit of time sniffing them and getting excited over the very gross animal smells he could detect from inside! I love the tongue out photo, shame its a bit blurry!

Mac is a master at opening presents. He can shred wrapping paper at quite a speed so he had fun opening all his presents. You see him demonstrating it by opening his frisbee, which he spends a lot of time wanting to crunch through!

His favourite toy though is clearly his pheasant. He loves the noise it makes and the fact its small enough for him to toss around and play with. Its the toy he keeps going back to again and again.

Happy birthday Mr Macintosh!

MACINTOSH MONDAY

Guess what? We have all our photos back and in working order! Hooray! Now I can show you what Macintosh has been up to recently.

Unsurprisingly there has been an awful lot of sleeping, especially in odd positions!

I tried to take a photograph of him watching a film with Andrew only to have him yawn the largest yawn I have ever seen. It came complete with a little squeak too!

We took him hiking up to the Devil's Chair and tried to get some good shots of him. We failed. This was our best shot and yet its of his rear end...

Finally when we went away in March we left Macintosh with some friends of ours. He walked their kids to school and some of their friends became quite fond of him. Apparently those friends hadn't forgotten Macintosh because one of them made him a fleecey dog toy, which he LOVES! In fact he won't stay still long enough for you to get a decent photo of him with it.

So there we go, that's Macintosh in a nutshell during the month of April. Well almost, I left out the gross things like poo eating etc. No one needs to hear about that...

MACINTOSH MONDAY

Those of you who have followed the blog for a while will realise that Macintosh used to be a bit of a pickle when it came to chewing things. He has a long a distinguished chewing career and has amassed quite a list of items he has destroyed. Some of those things include; the dining room table, wicker baskets, tea towels, my watch, books, cushions, all but one pair of Andrew's shoes and doormats!

Coming over to America the desire to chew seemed to have disappeared and we were left in peace. The ominous silence no longer filled us with dread that somewhere Macintosh was busy munching his way through something that we would need to replace....again. Instead we could allow him to roam the house knowing that we would no longer need to worry. In fact we began to buy him nice dog toys again! Once upon a time he would maul to death any toy we brought home for him and within 20 minutes the toy would be a useless pile of smaller, spit covered pieces. Now he plays with his toys, the stuffed animals last for longer and he genuinely seems to enjoy them!

However (isn't there always a however with our dog?!) last week as we were waiting for Andrew to return home from work Macintosh decided to play with his new reindeer toy. He was merrily flicking it about, making it squeak and generally playing nicely. I pretty much left him to it and continued what I was doing until the low throaty growl that often accompanies destruction appeared out of nowhere! I stopped what I was doing and spun round in time to witness some destruction. That poor reindeer!

Obviously I intervened at this point before the house was covered in fluff and reindeer parts by snatching the poor toy away. I held up one poor antler, looked at Macintosh and said something to the affect that I was disappointed in him and that he shouldn't start this chewing again. Well obviously the disappointment line works on dogs too because he crept right up to me, laid down and looked at me as if to say, 'I'm sorry!'

Come to think of it that might not be a sorry look, it may just be him trying to work out how quickly he could snatch it out of my hand and destroy it. Silly dog!

MACINTOSH MONDAY

This week I went back to work for a short week due to Labor Day which happened on Monday. So I'm slowly establishing some normality and routine. I have to admit though I'm happy to be back to one thing I love.....that is hanging with the pup after a long days work and his funny noises when I arrive home!

I also enjoy his crazy chasing of his new toy Mr Fox, especially dangling it in front of him and him leaping higher and higher to get it. I wanted to capture his playing on camera but trying to dangle the fox or his duck and take a photo was quite a challenge as he goes for the toy even whilst I'm still trying to set up the settings on the camera. Well I'm sure I'll get better but here are a few photos of my attempts. Plus some of me and the Pooch hanging out over the last week.

MACINTOSH MONDAY

My father has a wonderful way of winding Macintosh up. Whilst Macintosh lived with him I'm sure he had equal fun and frustration at the hand of my father who loves to tease him. His favourite thing to do is to stuff one of Macintosh's toys into his collar and watch him go slightly crazy until he manages to get it out.

It was only a matter of time before my Dad's antics began again in America, this weekend was such a time. My Dad renewed this toy-in-collar tradition and did it to him again; twice! Thankfully I was on hand to...well...capture it! I wasn't very well going to rescue him before I had got some blog worthy material was I?! But I think you'll agree, the photos make it all worth it!

His tactic was to spin round multiple times moving his head to make it swing round on his collar before he would bat at it with his paw. Eventually he could get his teeth into it and then he would pull. He would then sit holding onto his toy for dear life and watching my Dad very warily! Funny dog!

No dogs were harmed in the process of these photographs but one such dog may have been wound up rather too much. Check out the hurt look in his eyes on the bottom photograph! Aww!

MACINTOSH MONDAY

Hello! My name is Frog. I live in California; more specifically I live in the Woodruff household. Life there can be fun. There's lots of time to lay around and enjoy the warmth. However at certain points during the day I have to say life is not fun. In fact it hurts. You see I get picked up, squeezed, licked, tossed around, squashed, chewed, pulled and much more. There's this dog. His name is Macintosh and he likes to play about with me, except I think he has far more fun than I do. See...

The only time I get any peace is when Macintosh gets too tired. But by then I'm slobbery, wet and tired. Its no fun being a frog in that state. No fun at all.
