EVENING TIME IN SAN FRANCISCO

Here are a few more photographs of San Francisco as we walked all the way back to the apartment from the Financial District on one of the nights as the cable car was packed. As we wandered back the sun slowly set on us producing some beautiful scenes. The streets were mostly empty but in contrast the street corners became these bustling pockets of activity filled with colourful lights.

EXPLORING THE DESERT

The past two days have been filled with admin jobs and house hunting with a little bit of exploring thrown in. We have had to explore lots from the car as you really can't walk anywhere! The town looked small on google maps but when you are actually here you realise how spread out everything is. We are slowly getting the hang of the crazy grid system of roads but I'm just grateful that Andrew is driving for now as I'm not sure its that simple.

So far we are totally amazed by the area. Its completely different to what we have ever seen before, well minus the fact its as flat as a pancake. Well that is until you reach the huge mountain range. I really struggle to describe what it looks like so here are a few pictures to show you what its like. There's no building pictures yet as we have just been driving around between the towns and the base. Will show you more when we can!

MACINTOSH MONDAY

With Andrew being away for such a long time speaking to him regularly is really important as it helps us keep up to date with all thats happening. When we first did 6 months apart I was in Kenya and he was back in the UK doing his basic training. We had a once a week phone call at most and it was crackly and delayed. Now we sit and phone whenever we want for free using skype or facetime and that means we can see each other! Now this is all well and good for humans who can see and hear the phone call and understand what is happening. For Macintosh however it causes problems!

When we have a chat via facetime Macintosh can hear Andrew's voice and he does get a bit excited. His tail begins to wag and he looks quite happy. But as soon as a few minutes have gone by he begins to get frustrated. He can hear Andrew calling him but he can't work out where the voice is coming from. He walks towards the phone and stares puzzled at the blurry image on the screen. Dogs can see images on HD phones/laptops but not to the quality we can. So you get one bemused Macintosh staring at the screen with his head tilted trying to decipher whats happening. A little like this...

Or if I am busy chatting to Andrew without Mac in the room he suddenly comes rushing in and begins to obstruct your view of the screen. Andrew and I have started screen capturing some of these moments. Enjoy his oddness!

CAMERA SKILLS

Andrew has been teaching me how to use our new camera. Its a bit more hi-tech than our last one and takes some stunning photos. Its amazing what it can do and I'm looking forward to getting to grips with it more.

Here are a few shots I've taken so far. My model willingly posed too!

NEW CAMERA

So on Saturday the new camera I ordered came in, though they said it wouldn't arive till this coming Wednesday so I was ridiculously pleased! So eager was I to test it that I only gave it a lil charge before heading out to Santa Rosa for it then to die on me. But here are a few early photos taken and hopefully many more (higher quality with practice) ones to come. Oh and it came with different simulated film options including black and white which I am using alot, I'll do some more colour photos next time, sorry.
